Hi! I'm Shiv Patel, a New Jersey native and the founder of Matcha Diamonds.
I started Matcha Diamonds with a simple belief: jewelry should be as unique as the person wearing it.
Growing up, I was always drawn to color, design, and craftsmanship. Yet when I entered the jewelry industry, I noticed something surprising. Many stores offered the same styles, the same settings, and the same diamonds repeated over and over again. While beautiful, much of it felt disconnected from the individuality and personal stories that jewelry is meant to celebrate.
My journey began in New York City's iconic 47th Street Diamond District, where I learned the business from the inside. Surrounded by generations of jewelers, diamond dealers, and master craftsmen, I gained a deep appreciation for the artistry behind every piece. At the same time, I found myself drawn toward something different—fun, colorful gemstones, unique diamonds, and designs that felt more personal, expressive, and memorable.
Wanting to deepen my knowledge, I earned my Graduate Diamonds and Gemologist credentials from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in NYC. Studying gemstones transformed the way I viewed jewelry. I became fascinated by the natural beauty hidden within each stone—the brilliant flashes of color, the unique crystal formations, and the incredible stories written over millions of years beneath the earth's surface.
That experience shaped the vision for Matcha Diamonds.
Today, we specialize in creating distinctive fine jewelry that blends modern design with carefully selected gemstones and exceptional diamonds. Every piece is designed to stand apart from mass-produced jewelry while remaining timeless enough to be treasured for generations.
From our private appointment studio in New Jersey, we collaborate with some of New York City's most skilled stone setters, goldsmiths, and jewelry artisans. Every piece is crafted with meticulous attention to detail and carefully inspected before it leaves our hands, ensuring it meets the standards we would expect for our own families.
